Brian Kinney is disturbed by the sounds of misery coming from the downstairs neighbor’s apartment. When he meets the apartment’s occupant, he finds that he can’t ignore what’s going on. Is there some way that Brian can help this apparently lost soul and maybe heal himself in the process?

AU. I love Mrs Winterbourne and No Man of Her Own. So I took a lot from the beginning of Mrs. Winterbourne. After the first chapter they will not be very alike though. Justin gets into a trainwreck with Brian's twin and his husband. Mistaken Idenity.

After Chris Hobbs attacked him, Justin locked himself away in Brian's loft.  He's so afraid that someone will finish what Hobbs began that he's unwilling to let anyone in to see him and constantly paranoid that death is waiting for him around every corner.  While Brian is desperate to make him better, he encourages Justin to pick up a hobby.  Little do they know is that Justin's new hobby could mean life or death for both of them.

There comes a moment of seemingly cruel realization, a moment in which you come into ownership of a parenthetical knowledge about your identity. It should pale in comparison to your diagnosis. But it doesn't; it supercedes it. Runs past all the cautionary information relayed to you by physicians and counselors and rushes to the finish line. It's an insidious understanding that you are now not only Positive - you are Appositive. Your identity will forevermore be placed into brackets, qualified and added to and amended. Justin is pregnant and his parents try to ship him off to live with a family friend whom they are forcing Justin to give his child to. Instead, Justin takes a different flight.

Justin is kidnapped and later Brian is kidnapped.

(Brian & Justin do not 'meet' in this story. This is the story of why they didn't meet in 101.)

Brian suddenly becomes a father to Gus when Lindsay and Melanie die in a car accident. Because Brian was not there to meet him, Justin goes home, but later, in different circumstances he is bashed by Chris Hobbes. This is their story prior to their 'official' meeting which happens in the sequel.

Gus needs help from his fathers.
